The Grade 10-D students took time to do community service as part of their creative way of giving solutions to the real-world problem on mangrove deforestation. Trapeang Sangkae is a community-based ecotourism project aimed at helping the local people acquire a sustainable source of livelihood by preparing mangrove tree seedlings to be planted by guests and visitors at a reasonable cost. In effect, this mangrove reforestation will provide a venue for fishes to hatch their eggs without being threatened of minimum survival.
Each student donated ten (10) seedlings for planting. Students had the experience to plant mangrove trees along the coastline with the hope of seeing them grow for the coming years.
The activity also provided an avenue for students to visit Kampot Province and enjoy the mouth-watering seafood in Kep in the company of friends/classmates. Having the chance to be out of the daily routine of studies, students were glad to have this much-needed break no matter how short the time.
