Diwali, Deepavali or Dipavali is a festival to celebrate lights which, according to Hinduism, symbolise the spiritual ‘victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance’. Metaphorically, light is knowledge and consciousness. Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists in the northern hemisphere honour this festival every autumn up to five days by allowing all places to go brightly illuminated.
At Primary Campus, we celebrated it with some overflowing Indian foods, and Rangoli works were placed on the stage with tea candles all round to illuminate the scene. It was a short yet meaningful celebration among both international and local teachers and staff members. Happy Diwali!
