The Reading Ceremony 2019 recently took place on Paragon International School’s Primary Campus, an event which celebrates the reading level Grade 1 students have reached over the course of the year.
This annum’s ceremony used a story by the famous Dr Seuss, The Cat in a Hat, to showcase students’ speaking, acting, dancing and, of course, reading abilities.
The event was organised by English teachers Ms Michelle de Gouveia and Mr Jarred Bell, with the help of Grade 1 homeroom and subject teachers.
The ceremony started with a performance from each class and was followed by a reading of one of Dr Seuss’ much-loved stories, during which each of Grade 1’s 81 students had a line to recite.
Students then performed a body percussion, led by music teacher, Mr Percy, which ended with a song, ‘You Are My Sunshine’, dedicated to the students’ parents.
The ceremony finished with all students receiving certificates and then gathering with their parents on the stage for photo opportunities.
The event was enjoyed by all, not least by the teachers who have been thoroughly impressed with the progress this group of students have made since they joined the campus.
